Our goal is to use Drosophila to elucidate the role of the human gene, mutated in colorectal cancer (MCC), which plays a role in cell proliferation but whose mechanism of action is unknown. Knowledge of MCC function could provide insights for designing preventative diagnostic tests and/or new therapeutics for colorectal cancer, and possibly diet and lifestyle changes for cancer prevention.
