My research focuses on how host polyphenism impacts the ability to establish and maintain symbiotic bacteria and respond to environmental stressors. The model system I utilize in my research, the pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum), exhibits environmental-induced polyphenism as a response to stress, and provides a unique opportunity to study physiological tradeoffs between symbiont maintenance and reproductive ability. Apart from research, I am passionate about teaching, and I enjoy teaching distinct types of courses including Foundations of Biology, Ecology, Evolution and Physiology.  My aim is to provide lectures that are interactive, engaging, and where students can acquire the skills and knowledge for a career in the sciences.
