I'm currently working with Dr. Dieter Jaeger to understand the antidromic effects from subtharamic nucleus (STN) to cerebral cortex. Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) has been proved effective to relieve symptoms in parkinsonian patients while the mechanism remain unknown. We do in vivo recording in cortex and basal ganglia simultaneously in anesthetized rat, record spontaneous activities and responses to DBS in STN, investigate the features in intracellular potentials, local field potentials, EEG traces, and their frequency domain, find out the changes in synchronous and/or coherent relationships among them. |
